8 Weeks to Go: Your Simple WW X TRI at Prime View Training Guide
With two months to go until Prime View, now’s the perfect time to start building momentum - whether you’re going all-in with X TRI or chasing the finish line on the 15km Trail. You don’t need to overdo it - just start smart, keep it consistent, and enjoy the process. Here are 5 simple tips to help you get race-ready:
1. Don’t Overthink It – Just Start
Not sure where to begin? That’s normal.
Start with 3–4 short sessions a week – even 30 minutes counts. Focus on building a routine that fits into your life, not flipping it upside down. Consistency beats intensity, especially early on.
2. Try a Mini Mock TRI (or a Trail Teaser)
Practice makes perfect.
X TRI Full or Lite: Do a short session – 10-minute swim, 20-minute bike, 10-minute run. It doesn’t need to be intense. The goal is to get a feel for transitions, pacing, and gear setup.
15km Trail Runners: Head out for a 10km run on similar terrain. Use it to test your fuel strategy – gels, snacks, hydration. This helps you avoid surprises on race day.
3. Brick Workouts = Key (Or Back-to-Back Days for Trail Runners)
Your body needs to learn how to switch gears.
Triathletes: Practice a brick session – bike then run, even if it’s just 15 minutes of each. Your legs will feel strange at first, but it gets easier, and the benefits show on race day.
Trail runners: Try a strength or easier session Saturday, then your longer trail run on Sunday. This simulates that tired-leg feeling and builds race-day endurance without overtraining.
4. Train Where You Can
Don’t let logistics stop you.
No mountain bike? Use a spin bike.
No outdoor pool? Do laps in a gym or practice breathing and mobility.
Park runs, indoor cycling, lunchtime walks – it all adds up.
Adaptability > perfection.
5. Fuel, Rest, Repeat
Good training includes what you do off the trail too.
Stay hydrated, eat nourishing meals, and get enough sleep.
Don’t skip rest days – they’re where your body actually gets stronger. Recovery shouldn't be optional, it’s part of the plan!
Whether you're racing for the podium or just in it for the fun, these tips will help you get to the start line feeling confident and prepared.
